Recap of Improvements and Additions at Tapemark in 2020-2021

Written by Beau Garrett | 10/27/21 2:32 PM

Over the past 18 months, Tapemark has made a number of improvements to our facilities and team in order to better serve our current and prospective CDMO partners. Due to the pandemic, our clients and prospects haven't been able to visit us to see these exciting updates in person. Because of this, we decided to put together a video to show you what we've been up to since the start of 2020. You'll hear from some of our experts, and we invite you to continue reading to learn more.

New Quality Management System

Our new quality management system is a cloud based system that allows us to do quality events, training, as well as documentation online, anywhere in the world. Through this system, we are also able to send documentation for customer approval. Because it's cloud based, they're able to sign for their approval no matter where they are. Customers and employees are pleased with the rollout of this platform.

New aliquoting room and equipment

We recently constructed a new aliquoting room which is nearly twice the size of the previous one. This additional space allows us to effectively weigh our various materials. We've also installed stationary glove boxes, which help keep materials contained and our staff safe. These glove boxes also provide more space when weighing our active pharmaceutical ingredients.

New blending and mixing suites and Clean Rooms

Our new mixing suites include a new air handling system, which ensures clean air for our processes. The new suites have more space for large equipment such as 500-liter mixers, which allow us to make bigger mixes and increase production.

We have also doubled the number of clean room spaces in our facility, which has increased our capacity to run more than one job at a time.

New Pilot Coater

Our latest acquisition is a Pilot Coater, which is plug-and-play equipment used to manufacture product samples from our new product development lab. With this new equipment, we will be able to add processes like UV curing in-line, hot melt coatings and flexible printing. These new processes will help us to further revolutionize drug delivery.

New QC Analytical Laboratory

Tapemark's new QC laboratory is a fully analytical, GMP compliant laboratory that supports raw material testing, commercial finished product testing, and stability testing. All of Tapemark's QC analysts are highly skilled, with the ability to complete anything from complex analytical procedures to simple USP testing. By adding the new QC laboratory to Tapemark's portfolio, we can offer customers in-house testing. This yields the same high quality results in a more timely, cost effective manner.

New Chiller

Our new clean room additions required us to make facilities infrastructure updates. With this in mind, we installed a new, high efficiency 350-ton chiller controlled by a variable frequency drive (VFD). It supports our air handling system to help with cooling——maintaining proper temperatures and humidity levels.

80 Additional Staff Members

Growth at Tapemark goes beyond our additional rooms and advancements in technology. Since 2018, Tapemark has added more than 80 people to our team, for a total of approximately 200 employees. And we're still looking for more team members.

New branded and patented drug delivery platforms

We are excited to continue to bring innovation to the drug delivery market with new drug delivery platforms such as MacroPerm™, MicroDerm™, Snap™/Snaplicator™, and IontoPatch™. Each of these platforms allow for new drug delivery methods unlike anything else in the market.

2022 Growth and Beyond

We have made a lot of changes in the last 18 months, and we're not done! Future updates include adding another commercial Coater (Q4 2021) which will double our commercial coating capacity, and a second line for automated cartoning and serialization. We anticipate adding both of these items in the fourth quarter of 2021.

As we move into 2022 and beyond, you can expect us to continue to make updates and improvements that allow us to stay on the leading edge of drug development and manufacturing in order to help our customers stay ahead of their competition.
